The StrideGlider™ is simple and FUN to ride, or should we say glide? Additionally fitness options provide a low impact, cross-training workout with less effort and less risk of injury.

The StrideGlider™ roller offers greater freedom of movement, stability, balance and maneuverability than a traditional bicycle or scooter. It's low center of gravity and the rider's upright position reduce the risk of falling and injury. The reduced risk of falling and injury and the fitness components make the StrideGlider™ scooter more attractive than most adult sized scooters.

As therapists we are excited about the way the StrideGlider™ counteracts the effects of aging. Decreased balance and quadriceps strength are known causes of falls. StrideGliding™ prevention exercises integrate the two sides of the body while increasing leg strength. It allows one to easily integrate exercise into daily life while simultaneously decreasing the impact to the musculoskeletar system.

Living Healthy
StrideGliding™ provides a sense of solitude, which is drastically missing in our everyday life of confusion. Living healthy means finding ways to cope with the continuous cycle of highs and lows, fast and slow times, and the easy or difficult task.

In many ways riding a StrideGlider™ has all the elements of nature... touching the EARTH... gliding in AIR... fluid movement like WATER... and a feeling of FIRE - a rush sensation. When you ride a StrideGlider™ you feel the wind in your face, and there is a calming sense of well-being. Gliding is mystical. In that your breathing enhances a meditative state and increases a sense of inner solitude and strength. In summary, Gliding is a total Body Mind Soul experience.

With wheels in motion
The wind in my face
My breathing rythmatic
My stride without haste

With freedom abounding
In solitude's delight
I glide through nature
Till day turns to night

A dash of color
Is all they'll see
As I fly by... my StrideGlider and me.

Working Healthy
Repetitive activity in the workplace and in athletics has been a major cause of injury and expense for the employer. Integration of StrideGlider™ fitness options into one's workday would dramatically decrease fatigue, repetitive motion injuries, and increase mental alertness and productivity on the job. StrideGlider™ exercises can be completed as part of a prevention of injury program on a short 10-minute break before or after work. For example, a computer technician who is positioned in forward flexion for hours can reverse this postural drift in a 10 minute StrideGlide™. A nurse aid that is responsible for transferring immobile patients can strengthen back and quadricep muscles, vital for lifting, with a short one-mile ride on the StrideGlider™, three to four times per week.

Playing Healthy
As a child, playing is our first job. There are many toys and creative ways to express ourselves. As we grow-up, life programs us more for work than play; however, in an environment without these set boundaries and limitations, we play. The StrideGlider™ provides a natural environment for expression of movement, for fun and for play. One of the barriers to play in many environments is safety. When building the StrideGlider™, our first priority was safety and high quality design/materials; the second, fun and maneuverability. By removing this barrier, adults can ride a StrideGlider™ with creative expression in play. The side benefit is that it's healthy too. We call it... Playing Healthy.

Documented Health Benefits

Biomechanical research states that scootering is between the two extremes of no impact with cycling and too much impact with running.

In the August 1997 (V13 N11 p6) Berkley Wellness letter for the University of California it states. "Both ROM (Range of Motion) exercises and strengthening exercises should be part of an exercise program."
The StrideGliding™ fitness options are based on these principles.

May 1999 Annual of Rheumatic Disease (v56, n5, p293) reports that demanding tasks at work and home appear to increase the risk of hip injuries in women.
StrideGliding™ provides a break in your day that strengthens extension and hip mobility with the various stretches in the C3™ fitness option.

Wolfen et al in 1990 noted that enhanced aerobic fitness and muscle strength is negatively associated with the risk of falling (16)
After riding the StrideGlider™ for as little as 10 minutes one can feel the aerobic and musculoskeletal benefits.

Several research studies have documented that structured, clinic based aerobic training programs, while effective, have documented poor compliance (18 & 19).
Because the StrideGlider™ is FUN and riding can be easily incorporated into ones daily life, it has a higher probability of consistent use.

Multimodel physical training programs have documented a higher level of enjoyment and a higher likelihood of incorporating exercise into ones daily routine (2).
The W3™ fitness option is a low impact cross-training (multimodel) program that reinforce healthy lifestyle change.

Compliance with exercise and lifestyle change programs have been identified as a need by the US Department of Health and Human Services 1996 report on Physical Activity and Health.
This is consistent with the mission and vision of StrideGlide™ llc.
